FS500D Hydraulic Spring Applied Wind Turbine Brake W.C. Branham brings spring applied caliper disc brakes from the factory floor to towering wind turbines. Wind Turbine Friendly. As part of over-speed protection, spring applied brakes have the ability to stop the wind turbine rotor in harsh conditions. Hydraulic (FS) Choose either the FS400 series with a 2271 lb. Tangential Force rating or the FS500 series with a 3059 lb. Tangential Force rating. How do they work? Active minimum pressure releases the brake piston (pulls the brake piston away) from the brake disc rotor and stores that energy in a Belleville disc spring stack. At pressure loss, the energy stored in the disc spring stack is emitted driving the brake piston and engaging the disc rotor for positive stopping. Common Features.
